Performance

Though my first love for theatre began with acting; the roles that where offered to me, never really felt right. As a Trans actor; I longed to represent feminine roles. In the current artistic climate in Puerto Rico, Trans actors are rarely considered or appreciated. It is through my DRAG persona: 'Nansi Cótica'; an actress gone mad; and Performance Art, that I found the freedom to transform and forge my own opportunities for growth.

Performed in the student center of the University of Puerto Rico, during the height of it's 2017 protests.

Performed with the band Los Olmos for their residency in La Respuesta. October 2019.

After a procession; I perform a ritual offering and sacrifice to the audience and the queer community on the island. I offer my heart as I sing 'La Pricesa' By MIMA to all queer people that want to feel powerful amongst the island's misogyny. This performance is dedicated to Kevin Fret; a non-binary trap artist from Puerto Rico that was killed.

Performed in Pública for Verbo y piel's SEXPO. November 2019.

In another ritual; I present as the image of 'masculinity' for puerto rican culture. I undress and redress in drag behind a screen to music by Nina Simone; only to walk out and sing 'Escándalo' by Marc Anthony. All in the style of vintage burlesque. With this performance I dare the audience to love me and love watching me as I love myself through my gender expression.
